ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW - WEEK 23

No, I am not a new Tabloid Reporter, but it is a feature so
that we can all get to know each other better.

This feature will be open from Thursday at 12:01 A.M. and close on Monday at 11:59 P.M. to allow those that want to participate over the weekend the opportunity to do so when they have more time.  So you may want to check back on Tuesday or check the previous week's link on Thursday to view everyone's answers.

Links to all previous can be found by clicking the Enquiring Minds Want To Know page in the right sidebar for those who missed a week or two and want to catch up on everyone's answers.  To do that please link up using the actual post link  instead of the link to your entire blog so people can find your "Enquiring" posts easier.

If you are just joining this feature
WELCOME!!!!!
We all become friends/followers but most of us will never meet in person, this feature is to help us all get to know each other better.

Each Thursday I will post 3 questions for you to answer
that you can copy and post on your blog with your answers.
You don’t have to be a blogger to participate either. I will be using a Linky List for the blogs to use to participate and follow each other around to get to know each other, but if you are not a blogger just answer the questions in the comment section following the post on your favorite blog. Please feel free to click on the links and visit other blogs too.

This way we not only get to know other bloggers,
we get to know our followers too.
I am really excited about this meme
and hope many more people will join the fun!!!!!

Are you interested?

I bet you think I am going to ask about the Super Bowl, Snow, or Egypt because that's what's making headlines, but I am going to resist those topics and go in an entirely different direction.

WEEK 23 QUESTIONS

1. What was the first job your ever had?

2. What was the worst job you ever had?

3. What is the best job you ever had?

Now be sure to copy and paste the information and your answers into your blog, then come back to link up, so we can come to your blog and read your answers.

I hope you will come back to this meme every week and tell your friends so we can all get to know each other better and get the answers to all the questions
Enquiring Minds Want To Know.

MY ANSWERS:

1. What was the first job your ever had?
Like most girls my first job was babysitting, back in the olden days we were paid 50 cents per hour per child. I was thrilled to babysit every Friday and Saturday night and at that time it was the perfect job for 13-15 year olds.  As soon as I turned 16 I started waitressing at a local diner and absolutely hated it.  The pay wasn't much better and you really had to work.  Let's face it, after you got the kids in bed, babysitting was a breeze, 3 channels on television and you did your homework.

2. What was the worst job you ever had?

The worst job I ever had was a temporary job while in college, working at a place that packaged and labeled vaccines and medicines for animals.  The label machine for the little bottles never worked right, got my finger caught in it several times, and the people that had been there for years thought the college kids were there to do the work while they stood around and talked and took extra long breaks.  I was so happy when I received the call that I got a job in my field of Accounting and they would pay my tuition for my last year while I worked for them.  What a bonus!!

3. What is the best job you ever had?

The best job was working side by side with my husband and our friends building houses, pouring concrete, and remodeling homes.  We were our own bosses and while the business fell apart right after my accident, it was still the best job because I did a lot of things I thought I couldn't do.  At that time there were very few women builders, while looking for pictures for this post I found this great site for women working with Habitat for Humanity.

I have had several jobs over the years that I have enjoyed and only 2 I can think of that I really hated.  I worked at one place almost 15 years a really loved it, but took the leap to be part of a the new business above.  It was probably not the best decision I have ever made looking back, but I wouldn't want to trade away the experience.

Now it's your turn!
Let's get to know YOU!!

I would have been jealous of babysitting. My friends babysat but I was too nervous to stay in a house without a grown up in my younger days :)

I try my hand at a little diy but envy women like yourself who can show the men a thing or two with building etc.

I took a few fridays off from hopping, but now I'm back. I admit, I've been glued to CNN -- but a read-a-thon is starting this weekend so the TV is 'off' (well, most of the time :))

First job: Baby sitting for a boy who was paralyzed from the hip down from a car accident.
He was so sweet as was his grandmother. She paid me with a slver dollar and later with silver certificates. Her folks were from Scotland and sometimes she invited me and my mother over for
high tea. She was also one of the first rose queens of Indianapolis.

Worst Job: Working for Indiana Bell as a directory assistance operator. It was OK when we used the telephone directory to look up number but then the job went sour. After working there for 6 months, they brought in the computers. We had to aim for over 1,000 calls a day including the emergeny calls. We were timed to the 100th of a second. My joy in life was not in going as fast as I could! I quit the job when I moved out of state.

Best Job: Even though there was tremendous stress, I would have to say working as a Suits and Litigation Assitant in a Federal Agency. I had the most wonderful Advisor to work with, enjoyed the appreciation of the Legal Counsel upstairs and also received cash bonuses for my work every year that I had that job. Without the
stress and politics, it would have been the perfect job.

Hi Lori - that finger looks so sore! Your remodeling business sounds like it was fun. Although having your own business is a very mixed blessing! I know since I have three. LOL.

First job same as you and same pay. I waitressed for one afternoon and hated it.
Worst job was at a mental hospital and they asked how would I feel if a patient beat me up. The first day I was there a misogynist keep his eyes on me. He had a history of beating up empoyees. I quit. Hellooo.
Best job is now, doing what I want structuring my own life. XD
