"All the best stories in the world are but one story in reality -- the story of escape. It is the only thing which interests us all and at all times, how to escape."

Death in Two Courses
Two Hemlock Falls mysteries-together for the first time!

In A Pinch of Poison, newspaperman Hedrick Conway is making news in Hemlock Falls, but he's making enemies even faster. His current exposé: an in-depth look at plans for the local mini-mall, in which several prominent people have invested a great deal of money. Hedrick thinks something funny is going on, but nobody's laughing when two of his relatives turn up murdered...

In Murder Well-Done, The Inn at Hemlock Falls has the misfortune of hosting the wedding rehearsal dinner of Alphonse Santini. The ex- senator, looking to get reelected, has brought big-time politics to the little town. And while politics make strange bedfellows, the dead fellows being made are even stranger.
I read these several years ago when they were first released and LOVED THEM BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!

 AUTHORS/STORYTELLERS

Our authors never seem to fail us, bringing us new stories each and every month to quench our reading appetites.  It is something I used to take for granted but after "meeting" some of my favorites on Facebook and through this blog, I see what a tremendous undertaking it is to bring the readers such a wonderful finished product.

Several authors write under other names (pseudonyms), sometimes more than one.  It amazes me how they keep everything straight, write, edit, rewrite, and choose covers for several books a year.

As readers we purchase the book and read it sometimes in just a few hours and we fail to think of how many hours and how many people in addition to the author it took to get that book into our hot little hands.  If it's a series story, we just want the next book A.S.A.P. never really taking the time to stop and think what it takes to get that next book.

We also forget the negotiations that have to take place to get that book published, marketed and on a shelf in the store or listed at Amazon.com and other online stores. (Hardcover, Trade Paperback, Mass Market Paperback, e-books, Kindle, NOOK) Plus all the other things that go on behind the scenes to give us a few hours of enjoyment.

Not everyone can write a book, you have to have a special gift of storytelling and the patience to deal with everything I've listed above, and a tough skin to deal with rejection, and the unkind reviewers who just hated your book.  Sometimes that hurts the most.  We all know that everyone is not going to love every book, because that would make life pretty boring, but it is still hard to hear.

The books above have been written by some really good storytellers and I recommend every one of them.  Next time you read a book, think about the author, and if you are not a reviewer or even if you are, if you enjoyed the book, take a few minutes to contact the author and let them know they brightened your day, made you laugh or cry,  or even "scared you to death". Remember without them these wonderful books wouldn't exist and we wouldn't know what to do with our free time. (Television, movies and music require writers too.)

HAPPY READING!!!
