No, I am not a new Tabloid Reporter, but this is a feature so
that we can all get to know each other better.
This feature will be open from Thursday at 12:01 A.M. and close on Monday at 11:59 P.M. to allow those that want to participate over the weekend the opportunity to do so when they have more time. So you may want to check back on Tuesday or check the previous week's link on Thursday to view everyone's answers.
Links to all previous can be found by clicking the Enquiring Minds Want To Know page in the right sidebar for those who missed a week or two and want to catch up on everyone's answers. To do that please link up using the actual post link instead of the link to your entire blog so people can find your "Enquiring" posts easier.
If you are just joining this feature
WELCOME!!!!!
We all become friends/followers but most of us will never meet in person, this feature is to help us all get to know each other better.
Each Thursday I will post 3 questions for you to answer
that you can copy and post on your blog with your answers.
You don’t have to be a blogger to participate either. I will be using a Linky List for the blogs to use to participate and follow each other around to get to know each other, but if you are not a blogger just answer the questions in the comment section following the post on your favorite blog. Please feel free to click on the links and visit other blogs too.
This way we not only get to know other bloggers,
we get to know our followers too.
I am really excited about this meme
and hope many more people will join the fun!!!!!

WEEK 28 QUESTIONS
1. Author Jessica Park commented this week on Facebook that "Naming characters takes me almost as long as it does to write the book." which led me to start thinking about names. Is there a story behind your first name?
2. Do you think parents today give more thought to the names they give their children than our parents did?
3. What is the most unusual child's name you have noticed recently?
Now be sure to copy and paste the information and your answers into your blog, then come back to link up, so we can come to your blog and read your answers.
I hope you will come back to this meme every week and tell your friends so we can all get to know each other better and get the answers to all the questions
Enquiring Minds Want To Know.
MY ANSWERS:
1. Author Jessica Park commented this week on Facebook that "Naming characters takes me almost as long as it does to write the book." which led me to start thinking about names. Is there a story behind your first name?
Not to speak ill of the dead but I don't think my parents put much thought into the names of me or my siblings. My sister's name is LueAnn and she has no middle name at all. (My maternal grandmother was named Lucille, so I get where the Lue came from, no clue on the Ann.) My brother's name is Robert, (maybe after a relative as I did have a great, maybe great-great uncle by that name), but I doubt it. As for mine, Lori, I was told I was named after a soap opera character and apparently a lot of moms watched the same soap because in my small high school class of just over 100, there were 7 Lori's/Laurie's. I have always hated my name. As a side note the family dog was named Roblue, how creative, I am sure my brother and sister loved that.
2. Do you think parents today give more thought to the names they give their children than our parents did?
I know that because I always hated my name, we put a lot of thought into our kid's names. My biggest complaint was that there is no nickname or way to shorten Lori, it just is what it is. So all my kid's names can be shortened, to one or more nicknames. Kristopher (Kris), Katherine (Katy), Elizabeth (Betsy,Lizzie, etc.), Jaymeson (Jayme, Jaymes). Also if you read my Feel Good Friday post a couple of weeks ago, you know these names and their middle names are all derived from family names. And no, none of our pets were named after our children :)
3. What is the most unusual child's name you have noticed recently?
I have to say my nephew and his wife gave birth to a wonderful little girl a short time ago and they have named her Bronwyn, and while it took me a little time to learn to pronounce it correctly and had never heard it before, I think it is a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl. It is of Welsh origin, and the meaning of Bronwyn is "fair, blessed breast". I have to say that I am glad that parents today give a lot more thought to their children's name, at least more than my parents did.

I know how you feel, I never liked my name. And because of that I always ask my boys if they are happy with what we named them and thankfully the answer is yes (hoping they are being truthful)
Thanks for hosting, I copied your questions, wrote my answers , posted, then came back to read your answers and noticed we picked the same picture for #1. I guess good minds think alike!
1. I'm named Jeanne after my mother and my aunt. It's spelled the French way. Many Americans try to make it Jean which is the male form in French or Gene which is male. I love St. Jeanne D'Arc my patron saint. My husband calls the coffee I grow - Jeanne's D'Arc roast. XD
2. I think there have always been people who expended effort in coming up with their child's name and those who always knew what it would be or it cam easily and every variation in between.

I love that these questions have sparked such interesting conversations.
Shawn, too funny!!
I'm not sure if I'm totally inept, but I never seem to be able to link up. Anyway... my answers here: http://nurseatkins.blogspot.com/2011/03/enquiring-minds-want-to-know-15.html
I love that you named your computer problems a troll. That made me smile. I know know what the problem is. Sometimes I could see it and sometimes I couldn't. Oh well. Here's to hoping better luck next time. :)
