ENQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW - WEEK 29

Photobucket

No, I am not a new Tabloid Reporter, but this is a feature so
that we can all get to know each other better.

This feature will be open from Thursday at 12:01 A.M. and close on Monday at 11:59 P.M. to allow those that want to participate over the weekend the opportunity to do so when they have more time.  So you may want to check back on Tuesday or check the previous week's link on Thursday to view everyone's answers.

Links to all previous can be found by clicking the Enquiring Minds Want To Know page in the right sidebar for those who missed a week or two and want to catch up on everyone's answers.  To do that please link up using the actual post link  instead of the link to your entire blog so people can find your "Enquiring" posts easier.

If you are just joining this feature
WELCOME!!!!!
We all become friends/followers but most of us will never meet in person, this feature is to help us all get to know each other better.

Each Thursday I will post 3 questions for you to answer
that you can copy and post on your blog with your answers.
You don’t have to be a blogger to participate either. I will be using a Linky List for the blogs to use to participate and follow each other around to get to know each other, but if you are not a blogger just answer the questions in the comment section following the post on your favorite blog. Please feel free to click on the links and visit other blogs too.

This way we not only get to know other bloggers,
we get to know our followers too.
I am really excited about this meme
and hope many more people will join the fun!!!!!

Are you interested?

Wow, we had fun last week!!! The questions started all kinds of discussions and we all learned more about each other.

WEEK 29 QUESTIONS

1. What is your family background regarding nationality?

2. Have you ever eaten corned beef and cabbage, the traditionally meal of St. Patrick's Day or drank green colored beer?

3. St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in many cities in the U.S. and around the world, are there any celebrations happening near you?

Now be sure to copy and paste the information and your answers into your blog, then come back to link up, so we can come to your blog and read your answers.

I hope you will come back to this meme every week and tell your friends so we can all get to know each other better and get the answers to all the questions
Enquiring Minds Want To Know.

MY ANSWERS:

1. What is your family background regarding nationality?
France
I grew up being told our family background was German with a little French.  Our family tree is quite a maze because shortly before my father passed away he learned that his birth father was almost 100% Irish.
Ireland

2. Have you ever eaten corned beef and cabbage, the traditionally meal of St. Patrick's Day or drank green colored beer?
My parents ran a tavern and then a restaurant for most of my life, in fact we lived above it for several years and corned beef and cabbage along with green beer was served every St. Patrick's Day. I drank the beer as an adult but the smell of that cabbage cooking drove me from the place every year.  Thank goodness I had some great friends that let me camp out at their houses.

3. St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in many cities in the U.S. and around the world, are there any celebrations happening near you?
There are really no major celebrations in this area.  The local restaurants and taverns will be offering the items above.  But down in Illinois I believe this has become a common occurrence in celebration of the holiday.  The link above also has quite a listing of happenings around the world to celebrate the holiday.

There's a lot of Irish in my family and then I married into more of the Irish clan.

Yep, we've had cabage and corn beef for St. Patty's Day. In fact, I'm going to make some tonight. Nope, I haven't had green beer. Ugh, I don't like beer at all!

Since I'm not one for partying, I couldn't tell you what's happening in our city. I'm sure there will be some fanfare in the local restaurants, but everything else pales in comparison to the big city shindigs taking place.

My family has mostly English roots, with some Irish, French and my grandmother used to say some Czech.

Yes, corned beef and cabbage. I don't like beer.

They dyed the local creek at the shopping center green.

Wow, how interesting. Love the picture of a green Chicago river. :)

Good to see that your troll seems to have left the building. Hope it stays that way!
