I enjoyed reading ‘Diary of a Beverly Hills Matchmaker’ by Marla Martenson. It was light, breezy, and witty and funny. It was exactly what I needed after the dark and gloomy book before it. She nailed Los Angeles for the people living there with oddball characters, the demand for being physically fit and underweight. I was relieved when she discussed that because I moved from the Midwest where people don’t work out hours at a time every day and all the women are not size zero. She also got into the celebrity spotting game where there are limos everywhere.
Sprinkled throughout the book are e-mails from happy clients who fell in love and got married and disgruntled ones who threatened to quit unless they had their ideal date. Some of her clients are common sense deficient when it comes to dating, some are gold diggers, and a few want the impossibly perfect date.
Marla also tells of how she met her husband, Adolfo. He is her Ricky to his Lucy. She visits with her mother, who turns out to be very down to earth and funny too.
At the end of each chapter are the author’s affirmations, some of which cracked me up. So if your last book left you gloomy, be sure to read this one.

The book I read just for fun is A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard, I did not do a review as I read it just for fun and I have a lot of other reviews to do. I did not fill out the linky because there is no link to it on my blogs. Anyway back to the book, it was an awesome, sad, creepy and last of all inspiring book. A quick read, I finished it in less than 24 hours. What an inspiring woman Jaycee has become..lesson learned, do not let your kids walk alone to school. It doesn't have to be a parent but another child etc. We do not want any more children snatched on the way to school. I highly recommend this book!!
I need to post a review of this book-it could be my favorite book of the year.
In April, I finally put together the bookcase that my oldest daughter bought me for my birthday. I then moved ALL of my TBR books to it; challenge books on top of it, and review books to the bottom shelf, which amazingly cleared off my filing cabinets and the task table in the dining room. I made a vow to not let the TBR's become more than the bookshelf could hold - no double-stacking or stacking on top of the books in the shelves either.
SO .. it is now only July, and I have not stuck like glue to my resolution. There are some books stacked on top of the books in the shelves as well as some double-stacked. There are too many review books for the bottom shelf.
I'm pretty hopeless.

I have been working on moving into our spare bedroom to get organized. Told hubby I needed 2 bookcases and started to get a handle on my TBR pile, sorting out those I am willing to forego. Came up with about 15 books, then between today and yesterday 13 books from my Paperbackswap Wish List have been posted to me. Unbelievable. I usually get one or two books a month and open my shelf for mailing about once a month to keep my credits up and get some new books out to people. Now I will be right back where I started. I better tell hubby to get one more bookcase. lol
